Scenic World Blue Mountains railway update

Scenic WorldThe new Scenic World Blue Mountains railway is on schedule for its planned first official departure at Easter.

The historic day for Scenic World, on Friday, March 29, will continue the Hammon family’s journey to create unforgettable nature-based experiences for the Blue Mountains.

Through the $30 million redevelopment visitors will experience the new thrills of the timelessly-designed carriages on refreshed tracks for the steepest railway decent in the world.

The major project also has a new winch system, RFID technology wristbands replacing tickets and two new interactive platforms which feature a permanent historical exhibition that will continue to be introduced during the coming months.

The track spans 310m through a cliff-side tunnel and the ancient rainforest. The train takes 84 passengers and operates every 10 minutes.

The new Scenic Railway will also add a new dimension for visitors experiencing Sculpture at Scenic World between April 24 and May 19, 2013.
