The inaugural Blue Mountains Elvis Festival is set to shake up the Blue Mountains music scene on August 17-18.
The two-day festival will feature a selection of free entertainment and activities as well as two main shows. Fans of The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll will also be able to snap up Elvis and festival memorabilia.
The festival will include a Show ‘n’ Shine event in the RSL carpark from 10am to 4pm Saturday, August 17, featuring theme vehicles, a coffee stand and free entry to Spectators King of the Mountains Car competition ($20 registration per car – free t-shirt for first 20 registrations).
The car show will include the Pinky Awards presentation for the best paint, best interior, best in show, best dressed Elvis and best dressed Priscilla at 2pm on Saturday.
Entries close August 12 unless the show is full and cars must be parked by 10am to be judged (Details and registrations: www.legendsonstage.com.au or 0431 624 323). The RSL carpark is an alcohol-free zone.
The festival will also feature Elvis movie screenings in the auditorium including King Creol, Follow that Dream, Blue Hawaii and Roustabout; Sing Like the King competition open to anyone in a suitable costume, with a $250 first prize plus trophy (Registrations essential: www.legendsonstage.com.au).
There will be The Elvis Evolution Big Show in the auditorium featuring Steve Kelleher, The TCB Legends Band, the Memphis Belles Singers, a candlelight vigil for The King and special guest Shaylee Wilde. Tickets: $30 pre-sale or $35 from the box office on August 17.
And The Elvis Spectacular Big Show in the auditorium will for the first time ever feature four of the finest Elvis tribute artists in Australia together in one show. Steve Kelleher will lead the pack followed by Damian Mullin (Ultimate Elvis Competition 2012 Surfers Paradise winner), Carmine Camilio (Amazing Vocal Impersonation) and Terry Leonard (Top 12 Parkes 2012 Elvis Festival) along with The TCB Legends Band and the Memphis Belles Singers.
