There’s always something exciting going on in the Blue Mountains, Lithgow and Oberon region. Take your pick from the following list of events and activities.

While you’re here, make sure you visit some of the world-famous attractions and experiences such as Scenic World at Katoomba, Nana’s Teddies & Toys at Blaxland, Talisman Gallery at Hartley Historic Site, Eskbank House and State Mine Museum at Lithgow and heaps more.

Visit Blue Mountains Cultural Centre at Katoomba and take in two new exhibitions – The Air Up There: Vintage Tourism in the Blue Mountains and Paul Kelly and the Portraits.

Browse other art galleries such as Norman Lindsay Gallery & Museum at Faulconbridge, Lost Bear Gallery at Katoomba and Leura, Falls Gallery at Wentworth Falls and Rob Fisher’s photographic gallery at the Gardner’s Inn at Blackheath. Indulge in retail therapy at any of the villages throughout the region such as Rick Rutherford’s Country at Lawson, New Age Market at Springwood, Carrington Cellars & Deli at Katoomba and Leura Cellars at Leura.

And make time to experience the natural wonders of our grand backyard, the 1 million square hectares that is the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. Take in the sight at popular, free and accessible to all Echo Point, Govetts Leap and Wentworth Falls Lookouts or trek along one of more than 400 bush tracks.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER  14

Carols in the Caves, Jenolan Caves near Oberon: Two spectacular Christmas carols concerts (matinee from 1.45pm to 3.30pm and evening from 7.30pm to 10pm) in the Grand Arch. Bookings essential: reception@jenolancaves.org.au or phone 1300 76 33 11 or 13 61 00. Details: www.jenolancaves.org.au.

Churchglo, Hoskins Church, Lithgow (from 6.30pm): Watch the awe inspiring lightshow on the church facade, experience Lithgow’s first night market and view the Light into Darkness art exhibition. Details: 1300 760 276.

The Rebirth of Gratitude, Kingsford Smith Park, Katoomba (10am to 7pm): In Lakesh Community Market and Performances (formerly known as Katyusha Performances). Music will start at 12pm.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 15

Wentworth Falls Christmas in the Park (5pm – 7pm): Holy Trinity Anglican Church Christmas carol service with supper. Free.

Underground Church– Jenolan Caves. Experience church, deep underground, in the Cathedral Chamber of the Lucas Cave. one-hour, multi-denominational service. Arrive before 9am, to pick up your FREE ticket. Note: P: 6359 3923 www.jenolancaves.org.au

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 22

Blaxland Christmas in the Park – In the Church!, Blaxland Mall (from 6.30pm): Carols will start at 7.30pm. There will also be a sausage sizzle and children’s activities before moving into the church for Carols in the Church. Presented by Glenbrook/Blaxland Interchurch Group. Free.
