Anyone who missed out on side-splitting laughs when the Canberra Comedy Festival sold out has a second chance at merriment when the chuckle fest comes to Katoomba RSL Club on Saturday.

New to the line-up is comedian Dave Williams, who will join Luke Heggie (Australia’s Got Talent)  and The Stevenson Experience.

Associate director Benjamin Stevenson said last year the Canberra Comedy Festival Gala sold out in less than two weeks and he was pleased to bring the two-header show spectacular to the mountains.

The line-up is as follows:

Luke Heggie (Time Out Magazine Comedian of the Year 2012)

Luke Heggie began his stand up comedy career in 2010 at a RAW comedy heat in Sydney. He went on four gigs later to win the RAW Comedy National Final with a mixed bag of ingenious one-liners, delivered with minimal fuss and frills.

He is an efficient comic: no ostentation, no smoke and mirrors, visual, physical and verbal understatement ensue, followed by much laughter of course.

Heggie went to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival before being picked as one of the best up and comers by Melbourne International Comedy Festival to be part of the Comedy Zone in 2011.

In 2012 he was nominated best newcomer at the MICF and following shows at The Sydney Comedy Festival was named Sydney’s Best Comedian by Time Out Magazine.

He has since performed at the New York Comedy Festival, twice at the Sydney Opera House and all the major Australian and New Zealand Festivals. He has also become one of Australia’s most in-demand club comics.

The Stevenson Experience (Green Faces 2011 winner)

Benjamin and James Stevenson are identical twins and award-winning comedians. As The Stevenson Experience, the pair delivers high energy musical comedy. Peppered with hilarious songs and their trademark sibling rivalry banter, the guitar and piano-playing duo will take you on a journey through what it’s like to be an identical twin.

At only 24 years old, they have placed at every national comedy competition in Australia and been crowned the nation’s funniest new comedians.

The Stevenson Experience was crowned Green Faces winners in 2011 and grand finalists in Triple J’s Raw Comedy Competition and Quest for the Best. They have sold out shows at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2011, 2012 and 2013; Adelaide Fringe Festival 2013; and the Canberra Comedy Festival 2013. In 2014 The Stevenson Experience toured nationally and internationally, being invited to headline in New Zealand. The Stevenson Experience were selected to support musical comedy legends Tripod on their 2013 Men of Substance tour and have performed with Sammy J, Matt Okine, Charlie Pickering, Bo Burnham, Wil Anderson, Dave Hughes, Amy Schumer, Fiona O’Loughlin and many more.

Dave Williams

Regarded as one of Australia’s brightest young stars, Williams has performed alongside some of the world’s best including Carl Barron, Wayne Brady, Jimeoin, and Stephen K Amos.

With more than 10 years in the business, he has established himself as one of Australia’s most sought after headline acts.

Williams is a veteran of fringe and comedy festivals here and abroad, having starred in one-man shows as well as ensembles.

With a solid acting background, Williams uses strong characters and has a tendency to improvise lending his show a distinctly theatre flavour and his ability to adapt his performance from pubs and clubs to theatre and television ensures he will continue to work alongside Australia’s best known comedians.

Williams has played the Melbourne International Comedy Festival every year since 1999 with a new show each year. He was chosen to perform in the MICF Montreal Showcase and the Australian MICF Roadshow which tours nationally. In 2000 he performed his one-man show at the Adelaide Fringe Festival, achieving full houses and rave reviews.
