The Dalai Lama of Tibet will conduct a Buddhist yoga initiation and teaching event at the Fairmont Resort MGallery in the Blue Mountains during his 10th visit to Australia in June 2015.

The visit was recently announced as part of his Ocean of Wisdom trip, during which His Holiness will visit only three cities in Australia.

He has also offered to conduct a Highest Yoga Tantra Initiation and Teaching for serious Buddhist practitioners to progress to the next level of practice.

The Fairmont Resort MGallery at Leura will host up to 600 attendees during the five-day retreat-style event with group practice, meditation and discussion.

Fairmont Resort general manager Bernie Boller said the resort was honoured to be selected as the venue for such a unique and spiritual event.

“The retreat will be held at Fairmont Resort, situated in the Blue Mountains National Park, part of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area; listed for its remarkable geographic, botanic and cultural values, including protecting sites of Aboriginal cultural significance.

“As part of His Holiness’ presence in the Blue Mountains he will also engage with the local community.”

The entire resort has been secured by His Holiness and delegation, ensuring a tranquil setting for such a rare and exclusive event.

Blue Mountains Lithgow & Oberon Tourism chairman Randall Walker said: “Not only is the visit by His Holiness wonderful exposure for our magnificent region, it is also testament to the world-class quality of the Fairmont Resort MGallery and the service provided to visitors by the brilliant team there.

“The $10 million investment by Fairmont owner Dr Jerry Schwartz into a complete facelift of the resort and rapid raising of standards at the hotel under the Accor management team during the past few years has paid off.

“The Dalai Lama of Tibet choosing your hotel to stay for five days – there is no higher praise on Earth. I wish all attendees a dharmic experience.‘’
